Thawing a frozen shoulder

I had a patient come to see me a few months back.   was in his mid 50’s in good physical condition.  He had recently started to notice that he had restricted range of motion in one shoulder.  I examined him and found in both passive and active testing he was unable to raise his arm above his shoulder laterally.

He didnt experience any unusual pain on the supraspinatus, or deltoid on palpation.  I did some other testing and determined that there appeared to be excess cold in the shoulder leading to a stagnation of qi.

Over the course of several treatments, I used a heat lamp with moxa spray and4 needles pretty evenly spaced around the shoulder.  I hooled that up to e-stim and ran a mixed 4/30 Hx signal through the joint.  I also did St40 contralteral with strong dispersion.  Additionally I did sujok points on the opposite hand reflecting the shoulder.  After the 2nd visit he had improved ROM, after the 3rd visit, he was 95% better.

I am not sure if it was a case of true adhesive capsulitis, but it certainly was great to see him improve so quickly.
